Pinhole Photography at Clifton Suspension Bridge
Join Bristol’s own Justin Quinnell, to learn about the fascinating technique of how to use a pinhole to create a unique image.
Join Bristol’s own Justin Quinnell, a world expert in pinhole photography. This workshop will focus on the fascinating technique of how to use a pinhole to create a unique image and is suitable for both families and adults.
After a brief exploration of its history, scientific principles and the evolution of camera design, Justin will lead you into the heart of this art form.
You will create your own pinhole camera using an aluminium can to photograph our iconic bridge then dive into Justin’s unique and extraordinary ‘awfulogramme’ technique to capture the most amazing selfies.
After watching your photographs develop before your eyes in Justin’s temporary darkroom you’ll be guided on how to invert the image to reveal the stunning final results.
Justin will finally equip you with both a camera and instructions on creating a ‘solargraph’ – a photograph with a six-month-long exposure that traces the mesmerising sun’s journey across the sky as well as a chance to view the world through a wearable camera obscura – the Eyescura!
This event has been supported by a grant awarded by South West Museum Development with thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
