Clifton Suspension Bridge is one of Bristol’s most recognisable structures. In the Visitor Centre find out about its construction and history.
A visit to Bristol isn’t complete without a trip across the multi-award-winning Clifton Suspension Bridge. As well as being a sightseeing must-see, the iconic bridge has a free Visitor Centre where tourists, families and locals alike can learn when, how and why Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s first bridge was built.
The welcoming and accessible Visitor Centre is free to enter and is run by a team of friendly volunteers who are happy to share the secrets of Clifton Suspension Bridge’s history with you. Watch a film about its construction, learn how suspension bridges work, discover unusual objects from the Clifton Suspension Bridge collection and find out how the bridge is maintained today.
Free and ticketed tours and events take place at Clifton Suspension Bridge throughout the year, as well as children’s activities which are on offer at the Visitor Centre for visitors and schools.
