As UWE Bristol celebrates its 30 years of university status, UWE’s School of Art & Design looks back to the period pre-1992, when the School was part of Bristol Polytechnic, with an exhibition of posters designed by students and staff advertising degree shows, exhibitions and even discos taken from the School of Art & Design’s archive at Bower Ashton Campus.
Ranging in date from 1972 to 1992, the posters were usually handmade at the Art School, using screen-printing techniques and were designed by students or staff. Some posters relate to courses that no longer run, such as Ceramics, while others advertise courses that continue to thrive, such as Graphic Design, Illustration and Fine Art.
