Workshops & Courses
Porthmeor Art Collective for 11 to 16 year olds
Art workshops for 11 to 16 year olds, taught by artists and held in professional art studios overlooking the beach on monthly Sundays.
This group is for young artists aged 11-16, and helps young people connect with their creativity and get to know contemporary art practices.
Held once a month on Sundays for just £10, these are the workshops for Summer Term:
14 May - Responding to the Landscape: Explore the difference between recording a landscape and responding to it. Start with ink splatters and after a trip to the beach, turn them into skies and textures by drawing and painting on top with acrylic.
11 June - Drawing Humans: An illustrator will introduce you the simple process of how to draw simple cartoons and then progress to a life-like figure. You’ll leave the session with a new way of approaching drawing that you can practice with any subject, or style from realistic to anime.
9 July - Making Tools to experiment with Painting: You will learn some easy ways to design and build your own drawing tools, as many artists have done before. Then try out your own unique ‘brushes’ on different surfaces while drawing a vibrant Summer still life in the studio, using colourful water-based inks.
We are keen to offer FREE Scholarship places for those on low income. They just need to contact Cat Lee Youth Arts Manager for a Scholarship application form to apply - cat@schoolofpainting.co.uk.
