Artist Emma Lamb will be sharing her expertise and knowledge to help you create a unique and beautiful relief piece on handmade paper. During this workshop at The Brownston Gallery we will explore making handmade paper using recycled and natural materials, experimenting with imbedding natural forms and casting impressions into the paper. In the second half of the workshop we will experiment further by painting, spraying and embedding natural pigments and inks into the paper to create exciting alternatives and variations.

Emma, a printmaker and mixed media artist based in South Devon, creates thought-provoking organic 3D works on handmade paper. Her work is an emotional response to our deep-rooted connection to nature, reflecting on its wonder and fragility.

Emma’s pieces are layered with meaning and history, intertwining foraged plants, raw pigments, fibres and microplastic. Where nature isn’t just her inspiration but an integral part of the work itself-a “trace of place” embedded in every piece. Past and present interplay, allowing room to contemplate the future state of our planet and the ever-increasing threat from climate change.

We look forward to you joining us for a day of exploration, relaxation and fun
