Make a Human Head in Clay with Sara Evans
Join MAKE Southwest Maker Member Sara Evans to make a human likeness in stoneware clay.
While guidance will be given on proportions and placement of features, the result will be an imaginative representation rather than a portrait of a particular person. The sculpture is hand built using a combination of pinching, coiling and slabbing. Guidance will be given to make the basic form but there is much scope to individualize and give character to your work.
Sculptures will be fired to stoneware temperature which gives a stone-like appearance.
Fired sculptures can be painted with thinned acrylic paint to highlight textures.
All outcomes will be taken away for firing by Sara and returned to MAKE Southwest for collection.
All materials and equipment for the workshop are provided.
This workshop is open to all abilities - no previous experience of ceramics or clay is needed!
Firing costs are included in the ticket price.
