Coastal Impressions Exhibition
A vibrant mixed exhibition featuring work by eight of the gallery’s resident artists who use their unique styles to capture the spirit of summer.
Summer is always a happy time with long, warm sunny days, alfresco dining with friends and family, and seaside holidays. Coastal Impressions, a mixed exhibition featuring eight of The Brownston Gallery's resident artists, each with their own distinctive style, captures the spirit of summer beautifully.
Hannah Bone, Lenny Cornforth and Alistair Erskine all find inspiration in the local beaches found along the South West Coast path. Lenny paints striking aerial views, Alistair captures classic beach scenes, and contemporary landscape artist Hannah is exhibiting a selection of new works inspired by the coastline.
Teresa Pemberton and Jo Vollers both employ a vibrant palette and their loose, expressive paintings are wonderfully uplifting. By contrast, watercolourist David Norman uses more muted tones to depict seaside scenes and boats, while Mark Fielding's abstract paintings explore the ever-changing play of light on water.
Last but not least, much-loved Plymouth artist Carolyn King is exhibiting some new humorous pieces featuring people at leisure.
The gallery looks forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy this joyful celebration of summer and will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am - 4pm. www.brownstonart.com
