Join us for this special event to hear artist Brian Rice talk about his work and his time at Yeovil School of Art. A wonderful opportunity to gain insight into the artist’s years as a student and speak in the context of the show.
Part of 'It All Began In Yeovil, The Amazing Career of Artist Brian Rice', an exhibition tells the story of one of the UK's most respected abstract painters, Brian Rice whose 70 year career began with his days at Yeovil School of Art. Born in Yeovil, Brian began his art training in Yeovil School of Art at the age of 17, where he studied illustration, textile printing and painting.
Now 88, his work is in over 70 international collections, including the Tate Gallery and The Victoria and Albert Museum among many other esteemed collections nationally and internationally.
The exhibition presents an extensive collection of over 40 early works by Brian in the 1950s, many of which depict local areas. It also features a display of his later work, which reflects his enduring interest in archaeology and ancient landscapes in South West England. Some of the more recent abstract work will be shown to the public for the first time.
Hot drinks and refreshments will be provided, donations are welcome.
This event is Free, with limited spaces, and booking is essential.
