As a plein-air painter Joe immerses himself fully in his surroundings, spending long periods quietly studying and observing the wonders of nature. His paintings of bluebell woods are simply stunning. Fragile flowers shelter and dance in the cool shade of the trees above whilst bold urban graffiti starkly highlights the difficult relationship we have with our environment. These haunting paintings are a harsh reminder that beauty in nature can be fleeting.

oe Webster’s work literally originates in the breath-taking, wild and windswept world around him. Whether he is perched on the edge of a clifftop or lying on the floor of a shady, bluebell wood he immerses himself fully in his surroundings, spending long periods of time quietly studying and observing the wonders of nature before he starts putting paint to the canvases he has brought with him. Charged by this expansive wilderness and the subtle intimacy of nature, he then sets about capturing the timeless, incredible natural playground. Painting outdoors he feels more connected, picking up on the earth’s energy which he tries to instill in his work.

Fascinated by the raw power of street art graffiti to jolt the senses of the viewer, Joe often subtly interrupts his landscapes with bold urban gestures. This unique landscape-graffiti style allows him to explore the fragile and interconnected relationships we have with our environment and reminds us of the modern-day challenges that we face.
