"In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." – Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Reset, Visual Arts South West's series of online talks, continues with a discussion between Kamina Walton and Euella Jackson from Rising Arts Agency, exploring how people within the visual arts sector can harness their responsibility as allies in the fight against racial injustice and inequality.

The visual arts sector needs to pursue meaningful and tangible change urgently to abolish institutional racism. With predominantly white sector leadership, it is imperative that those in positions of power take responsibility in actively demolishing white supremacist structures within our lead institutions and smaller organisations alike. Space must be made for BPOC leaders and voices to shift the status quo, whilst ensuring that the conditions under which we work and encounter one another are safe, fair and free from oppression and exploitation.

Regardless of where you are in your career, this session will be touching on what you can actively be doing to dismantle power and oppression in your own organisation and across the sector. This is a space for you to get comfortable with discomfort and reflect on how you can be doing things differently.

This conversation is primarily directed at white allies.
