Where are we now?
Five years after a touring exhibition that spanned the South West, members of the Inch by IN:CH collective reconvene to review their previous journey
Artist collective reviews a five-year journey: exhibitions in Bath and Bruton, Summer/Autumn 2026.
Exhibiting small and medium-sized sculpture, painting and installation in Bath and Bruton, this collective believes that art not only expresses but can also explore and connect. Something that is particularly pertinent in times of transition.
When reflecting on the work they made in 2021, they are considering
- What functions do their individual art practices perform now
- How has their work evolved since the last time they exhibited together
- How will new venues, new times affect interaction with the work
Context
Travelling to eight locations over the summer of 2021, Inch by IN:CH took work made in the shadow of COVID-19 to local communities. Now, finding the world transformed over the intervening period, the collective comes together again to present work that raises questions about what we have all been moving through and where we might be now.
Presenting painting, sculpture and installation, two exhibitions have so far been confirmed. One in the city of Bath and a smaller presentation in Bruton, Somerset, as part of Somerset Art Weeks Festival.
‘Where are we Now’ previews at 44ad ArtSpace, Bath on August 24th between 5 pm and 8pm, and will be open from 25th – 30th August, 11am–5pm daily (closing at 4pm Sunday 30th).
There will be an informal Artists-in-conversation on Wednesday eve between 6 and 8pm, and a children's workshop led by Fiona Campbell & Shirley Sharp on Sunday morning between 11am and 1pm encouraging children to explore their own place in the world through creative practice. Book here.
Subsequently, a selection of the work will be presented at No.6 Bruton, 6 High Street, Bruton in September as part of Somerset Art Weeks Festival. The show will be open Friday to Sunday 25th – 27th September and 2nd – 4th October, 10am–5pm.
