Too Long We Sit, Tongue-Tied, Ashley David John
Too Long We Sit, Tongue-Tied brings together a new collection of text-based works and collages by Portsmouth artist Ashley David John.
Working with found textures, discarded materials and fragments of language, Ashley David John explores the social and political landscapes that shape our everyday lives through collage and hand-drawn poems, often placed publicly as a form of gentle disruption. Across the exhibition, recurring colours, lines and phrases emerge and reappear, building connections between past and present works. These layered compositions sit alongside the artist’s latest text strip pieces, inviting visitors to pause and consider the relationships between seemingly opposing ideas: internal and external, micro and macro, love and hate.
