Join us for the launch of The Yellowing, a new body of work by Keith Frake.

Developed over three years, The Yellowing draws on early Christian painting, apocalyptic imagery from the Books of Revelation and Enoch, and the psychological transformations of alchemy. Frake expands his palette—especially yellow and gold—taking cues from Byzantine icons and the colour symbolism in Georg Trakl’s poetry. Through processes of burning, boiling, and prolonged drying, surfaces shift and stain: whites degrade into yellows and browns, textures become unstable, and citrinitas—the often-neglected alchemical “yellowing”—emerges as both radiant and corrupting. The result is a series that embraces fragility, unpredictability, and impermanence.
