The Really Wild Show
Local watercolour artist Trisha Hayman shares her love of the natural world in the latest exhibition of her work.
From 17 September until 10 November, local watercolour artist Trisha Hayman will be holding her latest exhibition, entitled The Really Wild Show, at Lyme Regis Museum’s Rotunda Gallery.
Trisha describes her recent work as “an observation on the fragility of nature within the natural world,” as her still life images focus on nature’s unconsidered, forgotten or expendable specimens. As she puts it, “some are beautiful, some are bland and some are just ignored!”
Her paintings feature sea life—fish, crustaceans and abandoned shells—as well as silk moths in all their glory,
seed pods, autumn leaves, age old fossils, and animal antlers and horns. “The approach to my work,” she explains, “takes many hours examining my subject matter very closely, so my essential tools are a fine sable paintbrush (as I only work in watercolour), a magnifying glass and plenty of hot-pressed paper.”
To share Trisha’s love of the natural world, you can visit The Really Wild Show from 10am-5pm Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10am-4pm Sundays, and various admission charges apply. For more details, you can go to www.lymeregismuseum.co.uk or www.trishahayman.co.uk.
