Squaring the Circles of Confusion: Neo-Pictorialism in the 21st Century is curated by Zelda Cheatle, RPS Honorary Fellow, and features work from Takashi Arai, Susan Derges, David George, Joy Gregory, Tom Hunter, Ian Phillips McLaren, Céline Bodin, and Spencer Rowell. The exhibition will be on display at RPS Gallery, Bristol from 9 September to 6 November 2022



The RPS is delighted to announce a special one-off afternoon of artist talks on 20 October 2022 at RPS, Bristol by exhibiting artist Takashi Arai, Ian Phillips McLaren, Spencer Rowell, and a gallery walkthrough with curator Zelda Cheatle HonFRPS and Dr Michael Pritchard FRPS.



The event will start with a gallery walkthrough by curator Zelda Cheatle HonFRPS and Dr Michael Pritchard. Michael will talk about how the exhibition came about, Pictorialism and the Royal Photographic Society



Takashi Arai will present in RPS auditorium for a one-off talk about this work featured in Squaring the Circles of Confusion: Neo-Pictorialism in the 21st Century. Takashi Arai uses daguerreotypes to create individual records of people affected by radiation and the nuclear industry in his series Tomorrow's History which has never been displayed in the UK before coming to RPS Gallery.



Spencer Rowell & Ian Phillips McLaren will speak about their work in the exhibition followed by a question and answer session.
