Sustain asks us what it looks like when ecological anxiety and awareness meet the realm of art. When it comes to both subject matter and the use of sustainable materials, Sustain has planet Earth as its muse. Some of the works are overt in their politics, while others are more grounded, letting their earthbound, environmentally friendly makeup speak for itself.

Featuring a selection of University Centre Weston’s emerging artists and makers studying Art & Design and Graphic Design, the exhibition reflects the ethos of the university’s program, where environmental matters lie at the core of the teaching.

Showcasing a vast array of artistic mediums and methods, many of these artists employ alternative processes and methods of production spanning ceramics, found objects and abstract photography. Sustain reveals what can be produced when environmental preservation and creativity collide, leaving viewers to reflect on how our actions and artistic choices can be informed by ecological awareness.
