Portraits in Fabric with Elizabeth Loveday

Spend four blissful mornings creating a one-of-a-kind textile portrait while learning new skills in a calm and welcoming environment.

A FOUR-WEEK WORKSHOP

Saturdays: 1, 8, 15, & 22 March 2025: 10.00 – 13.00

Spend four blissful mornings creating a one-of-a-kind textile portrait while learning new skills in a calm and welcoming environment.

Enjoy a series of relaxed and joyful Saturday mornings of creative activity – working on a piece of textile art that comes from the heart, is inspired by personal memories, and ready to be hung straight on the wall afterwards – all under the expert tuition of Social Fabric exhibition artist Elizabeth Loveday.

Over four weeks you will create a portrait in textile that includes pieces of fabric of your choosing – snippets of material that you hold dear because they hold treasured memories for you.

You’ll learn techniques such as applique, reverse applique, and expressive, painterly freehand stitching. Elizabeth will also teach you how to design your portrait, select your colour palette, and add complementary areas of colour using her handmade fabric dyes.

This workshop is suitable for all abilities, from complete beginners to those already accomplished in embroidery and stitch.

£220 per person, booking essential as places are limited.
