OPEN
Celebrating the work of d/Deaf and disabled artists from across the rural South West.
OPEN emerged from an open call designed to provide a platform for artists in the region, with submissions considered through an open selection process involving representatives from Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange, John Hansard Gallery, and DASH.
The selected artists, Benedict Davies, Carrie Mason, Dolly Kershaw, Edie Evans, Jane Knight, Lily Bertrand-Webb, Nick Ivins, Patricia Dixon and Siân Cann, work across a diverse range of practices and media. The exhibition is a celebration of the extraordinarily artists and artworks produced across the region.
The artists work across a wide range of disciplines, including painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, installation, stained glass and moving image. Their practices bring together diverse materials, techniques and approaches, from working with clay and raw earth to analogue and experimental photographic processes, and from exploring light, pattern and surface to using humour, performance and everyday objects. Together, their work offers a rich range of perspectives on the world and on the possibilities of contemporary art.
