Mulch
Group exhibition curated by Peach Doble and Nettle Grellier
In this group exhibition curated by Peach Doble and Nettle Grellier, is a collection of works that respond to the title Mulch, a word associated with rotting and decay as much as with growth and the enrichment of soil.
This exhibition reflects on each of the artists’ drawing practices as mulching. Some pieces are exhibited alongside their preparatory sketches, there are sketches in oil paint or collage, perhaps to be seen as the work in between a pencil drawing and a finished painting on canvas, and there are works with a shelf life; it’s drawing in the loosest sense.
Drawing can be a more intimate and private part of many artists’ practices. This show invites the viewer to a glimpse further behind the curtain and to share in the process of art making.
Exhibition includes work by Simon Bayliss, Phoebe Barnicoat, Chloe Bonfield, Laurie Cole, Peach Doble, Charlie Duck, Georgia Gendall, Nettle Grellier, Ben Reader, Hannah Waldron
