Lyme Light: Where Sea Meets Sky
Lyme Light is a solo exhibition of landscape paintings and drawings inspired by nature by local artist Pauline Sayers, a member of Lyme Bay Arts.
Subtitled ‘Where Sea Meets Sky’, this exhibition of landscape paintings represents, in Pauline’s words, “my past year observing the ever-changing sea, sky and coast from different areas within Lyme Bay, looking out towards the dazzling light on the horizon in what has been an unprecedented time. 2020 was a year where many have found being out in nature to be an uplifting and positive force for renewal. My aim is for my paintings to convey some of the wonder and tranquillity of what we see when looking out towards the horizon.”
Pauline’s technique involves sketching and taking photographs outside, then painting in oils or drawing with acrylic pens on unbleached linen once inside, sometimes combining the two media.
Pauline graduated in Fine Art, History of Art, and Education from Homerton College, Cambridge, and then taught art in Greater London, Cumbria and Somerset before concentrating solely on her own work.
