leave / stay / arrive
Art exhibition and programme of public events by artists Alice Sheppard Fidler and Rebecca Stapleford set in a historic building in Nailsworth.
There is a brief moment in time when a building, undergoing works, is truly raw. The process of deconstructing, though messy and chaotic, reveals shadows and imprints uncovering hidden stories.
Brewery 1820, Comrades Social Club 1918 and now Three Storeys centre for creative working, the building holds a significant role in the area.
Join us for leave / stay / arrive, an art exhibition linked with Heritage Open Days and Stroud Valley Arts SITE Festival.
Inviting the public to shift their focus from the newly refurbished building, immersive site specific sculpture, sound and video, provoke discussion on the value of changing spaces, probing what constitutes historical merit.
Sheppard Fidler and Stapleford share an interest in the relationship of human body to place, physical memories and spaces in flux. They use movement exercises, influenced by somatic practice, as a conduit for connection; stimulating their collaboration to inform the sculptures, installations and public interventions they go on to create.
