Introduction to Wood Engraving with Robin Mackenzie
Join MAKE Southwest member and printmaker Robin Mackenzie for an Introduction to Wood Engraving.
This one-day workshop is perfect for beginners looking to learn a new technique, or for those who wish to build on their existing skills.
You will be taught the principles of designing for wood engraving, methods of engraving into a block of end grain wood, and how to print from your finished block.
This course is open to all abilities and no previous experience of printmaking is necessary.
All equipment and materials will be provided.
Participants must be aged 16 years + to attend this course.
About Robin:
Robin is an illustrator and printmaker specialising in the crafts of linocut and wood engraving. He graduated from Arts University Bournemouth in 2013 and has since gone on to create prints for The National Trust, The BBC, Ardbeg Whiskey, SAGA cruises and many others. He regularly exhibits his work around the UK and is an elected member of The Society of Wood Engravers. He created all the wood blocks for the film about Eric Ravilious, ‘Drawn to War’.
Robin works from his studio in Dorset using a traditional cast iron Albion Press to produce his prints and through his personal work he explores the British coast and landscape. Robin runs printmaking courses throughout the year from his studio and around the country.
