In Conversation, Lauren Joy Kennett
Join artist Lauren Joy Kennett for a special In Conversation event as part of our Spring programme.
Currently exhibiting at Aspex in her first solo show, Sorry I’m Not Sorry, Kennett is an autobiographical artist working with photography, hand cut collage and text, to explore themes of love and loneliness and understand her experiences of living with undiagnosed autism.
The artist will be joined in conversation with the curatorial team from Aspex and Photoworks, followed by a Q&A session.
Refreshments will be available to purchase from our onsite café, Port Coffee.
About the Exhibition
Sorry I’m Not Sorry is Lauren Joy Kennett’s first solo exhibition and explores the artists experiences of living with undiagnosed autism.
Bringing together autobiographical and archive photography, Kennett’s captivating visual works employ cutting and collaging techniques to explore self-discovery, a confrontation of life’s traumas and the experiences that have shaped her existence. In using old family photographs, she reconstructs and reinterprets childhood memories; a process of dismantling and piecing together her identity to understand her past and look towards the future.
