Aspex Portsmouth is delighted to present the outcomes of our Generate participants artwork in Generate: Come Together, a new exhibition in our Learning Space.

Generate is an inclusive art workshop for people with dementia, which takes place at Aspex every week. Providing a comfortable space to explore art, Aspex has been running Generate since 2015. The sessions are led by artists Roy Eneas and Abi Wheeler, who support members to follow their own creative interests and find the techniques, materials and subject matter that inspires them. Many people join us with no arts background and those who do have some experience may not have painted or sketched for a long time.

Over the years, we have not only seen people develop their skills, but also gain confidence and fulfilment from Generate’s supportive community. During this past year Generate has grown from strength to strength with new participants joining the group exploring their creative side and creating artwork that is included in this exhibition. Generate: Come Together is a celebration of its participants, and meaningful connections.

We would like to thank our fantastic participants:
Francis Reed, Patricia Blackman, Barry Rogers, Barbara Bessant , Johanna Pudney, John Whitmore, Ray Scowen, Tim Clough, Jean Samji, June Willis, Bob McQullian.

Generate: Come Together is free to visit and on display from Wednesday 19 April until Sunday 21 May 2023.
