Fringe Arts Bath Festival 26 May to 11 June - free and family friendly
FaB Festival 2023 presents free exhibitions and events over 17 days, transforming unexpected spaces with a wide selection of artworks.
Fringe Arts Bath Festival is back with Bath’s annual feast of visual arts and happenings, curious, often challenging and always inspiring.
FaB Festival 2023 brings 24 curated exhibitions and projects from both Bath’s creative community and international Artists in a festival of pop-up exhibitions, events, installations and performances breathing new life into unexpected spaces and the streets of the city of Bath.
Join the Opening Night Arty Party on Friday 26 May, 6pm until late at Newark Works, Walcot Chapel and 44AD artspace to discover an exciting variety of exhibitions, quirky performances and our pop-up bars.
We are excited to announce Newark Works as a new festival location. As our largest venue, Newark Works will be at the centre of the action, hosting 15 exhibitions plus plenty of workshops, performances and events for you to enjoy,
Among them are Stray Threads and Sludge, an experimental textile and ceramics exhibition presenting these traditional media reimagined by contemporary approaches, and The FaB Photomarathon, a large photo wall created by many participants celebrating different viewpoints of our city.
Workshops at Newark Works include The Subversive Stitcher guiding you through creating a Subversive Vintage Tea Towel, and a free pop-up silkscreen workshop with the Holburne Museum’s ‘Make it New’ group.
Films nights GRIPE: Bath's Tiny LoFi Indie Film Show, a curated night of analog films and 'Drawing Archaeology', an Artists’ film documentary screening invite you to meet the Curators and Artists who created them.
Out on the streets of Bath you’ll encounter performances and interventions, a Guided Walk of Bath’s Jewish Burial Ground revealing the hidden diversity of our City, and two photographic exhibitions: I See You showcasing an inward perspective of work by unpaid carers and Pubtown, a reflection on local community.
44AD Artspace is host to Experiments in Olfactory and Musical Composition, an event of multi-sensory performance confronting our primal senses, and Who's Been Sleeping in my Bed? an exhibition addressing ‘the entangled lives of people and animals’.
Awe and Wonder whisks you off to rural Foxcote, 8 miles south of Bath, filling the 15th century Church of St James The Less with artworks inspired by the mystery and wonders of nature.
Walcot Chapel houses Barricade, a free-form account of European history through an installation-opera, and The Shape of Light and Shadows, 3D printed sculpture based on intensity of light.
As ever there are plenty more exhibitions, surprises, events, workshops and performances including poetry and dance throughout the 17 days of FaB Festival. ,
