Earth and Rock
A introductory six week course exploring clay at it’s most elemental
We’ll be digging, processing and learning about firing techniques and the essentials of glaze chemistry and the everyday materials you can use to make them! Everyone on the course will be able to develop a clay body and glaze made from collected and foraged materials and it will cover the science behind why and discuss ways of sustainable making and firing techniques.
Week 1 - Foraging for clay
Week 2 - Processing the wild clay
Week 3 - Working with the material, ceramic sculpting techniques
Week 4 - Glaze making with found and foraged materials
Week 5 - Making a glaze blend
Week 6 - Final week, glazing your work
