Dreams and Schemes: Mondrian, Martin, Chagall & Matisse

This spring, Hidden Gallery, renowned for their expertise in museum-quality artworks by household names, are excited to exhibit original prints by Modern art’s defining artists: Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Piet Mondrian and Agnes Martin. Focusing on a hand-picked selection of significant print portfolios, ‘Dreams and Schemes’ promises to bring almost seventy years of art history to the heart of Bristol.

Each portfolio, whether created for an official artist monograph, a deluxe exhibition catalogue or a dedicated book, is replete with rare and iconic works of art. Matisse's evocative ‘Blue Nudes’ and Mondrian's famed ‘Victory Boogie Woogie’ are amongst the show-stopping artworks that can be found on display, all of which are available for purchase.

Despite their distinct approaches - Mondrian’s geometric precision, Martin’s meditative minimalism, Chagall’s dreamlike narratives, and Matisse’s vibrant fluidity - each artist shares a commitment to distilling beauty, emotion, and form into its most essential elements. This exhibition presents their works side by side, encouraging a contemplation of composition, colour, and rhythm.
