Bath Art Depot warmly invites you, as part of West of England Visual Arts Alliance Weekend, to a presentation by Eva de Klerk, author of Make Your City ­and The City as a Shell, on her innovative redevelopment of the NDSM Shipyard in north Amsterdam.

Eva de Klerk is known as the initiator of the redevelopment of the gigantic shipbuilding warehouse at the former NDSM shipyard in the north of Amsterdam. The NDSM shipbuilding warehouse is the largest self-organized and self-designed artists’ workspace in Europe. A so-called art city was built in the giant warehouse by 250 artists and cultural entrepreneurs. Eva is currently the chairman of The Guild of Industrial Buildings upon Het IJ, which represents the interests of 24 industrial and monumental artist’s buildings in Amsterdam. She is a frequently asked speaker in The Netherlands and abroad on the topic of bottom-up urban development.
