Ceramic artist Blandine Anderson will be at The Burton in August to discuss her new book and exhibit a series of new ceramic works to accompany her writing.

Both Sides: The Highs and Lows of a Year on a Wildlife Friendly Smallholding is a revealing and personal account of the successes and misfortunes of wildlife and farm life throughout the shepherding year. In the book, Blandine uses a series of her dual-aspect ceramic works to illustrate both sides of each theme, including life and death, winter and summer, and famine and plenty.

Join us in the Ceramics Gallery on Saturday 10 August at 2pm to meet Blandine, see her latest ceramic pieces and pick up a signed copy of her new book.

Blandine’s ceramic work also features as part of The Burton’s new exhibition, Makers from the Christine Halstead Collection. Over a period of 40 years of collecting, Christine Halstead amassed over 400 items of studioware, which were bequeathed in 2014 to The Friends of The Burton and now form part of The Burton’s Permanent Collection.

This exhibition in the Ceramics Gallery will highlight five makers whose work features in the collection: Blandine Anderson; Tim Andrews; David Leach; John Maltby; and Marianne de Trey.

Makers from the Christine Halstead Collection runs from 19 July to 15 October 2024.
