Bend Until You See Your World Upside Down
A multidisciplinary collection of works by Sophie Keller created in 2019 – 2022
The Work forms a dialogue between the act of walking, the gestures of surfaces in nature, and working three-dimensional with clay, through an intuitive hand-building process. Integrating ceramic, printmaking, and analogue photography Sofie Keller combines her interest in maps, Terra Incognita, and looking at vessels as practical and spiritual utensils. The different mediums open the door to a world of unpredictable processes, just like nature, home of untamed powers.
In a world of constant change, we twist, turn, and bend to transit, discover, and belong.
Sofie Keller, born in Copenhagen, DK in 1996, lives and works in Bristol, UK. In 2020 Sofie graduated with a BA(Hons) in Fine Art Photography from Glasgow School of Art.
The same year Sofie co-published Alternative Guide for Walking, a publication using the outdoors for community making, discussing gender and identity politics.
In 2021 Sofie’s work was published internationally by Alta Nordic Platform for Emerging Photography (DK) and Directions (GE).
In spring 2022 Sofie took part in a mentorship programme with Gallery NŌUA (Norway).
This is her first exhibition in Bristol.
