Discover how to create big, bold and beautifully layered screen prints in this immersive two-day Beginners’ Screenprinting workshop. Using hand-drawn elements, cut-up techniques, rubbings, and textured mark-making, you’ll explore an intuitive and playful approach to image-making that translates into striking printed results.

Working with paper, scissors, and a variety of materials, you’ll experiment with cutting, tearing, layering, and surface rubbings to build rich, tactile compositions. These processes will form the basis of your designs, which you’ll then transform into stencils for screen printing. Along the way, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a studio environment and learn how to set up and transfer your artwork onto your dedicated silkscreen.

Across the weekend, you’ll explore a range of creative techniques to generate texture and depth, combining bold shapes with expressive marks and found patterns. You’ll work both individually and collaboratively to create large-scale, colourful designs, focusing on composition, contrast, and layering.

With step-by-step guidance, you’ll be introduced to the full screen-printing process, from developing hand-made artwork and preparing stencils, to exposing screens, layering colours, and refining your prints through registration techniques.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have produced a series of dynamic, multi-layered prints, including collaborative pieces and your own original designs.

Ideal for beginners and those looking to refresh their skills, this course offers a supportive and creative environment to explore expressive screen printing through texture, layering, and bold visual language.

Please wear old clothes as the workshop can be messy, all other materials will be provided.
