Pod 5: Participatory Artist Residency 2023
We are now accepting applications for the 2023 East Quay Pod 5 Participatory Artist Residency!
Dates: January 30 – February 12, 2023 (Two weeks)
Stipend: £1,000
Production budget: Up to £1,000 to cover any materials, workshop requirements, and any furnishings
Accommodation and studio provided at East Quay (Pod 5 & Studio 10)
East Quay is a brand-new arts venue which opened in September 2021 in the harbour town of Watchet, Somerset. It is home to two contemporary art galleries, 11 artist studios, a paper mill, a geology workshop, a print studio, a restaurant, an education space, and five unique accommodation pods, all overlooking the town’s quayside on Somerset’s coast.
Designed by PEARCE+Fægen, each of the five accommodation pods at East Quay have their own concept and story, reflecting the town, its culture, heritage, and future. Each year, Contains Art will invite a different artist/maker/creative practitioner to use the interior of Pod 5 as their canvas, transforming it into an immersive artwork/installation for guests to enjoy year-round during their stay.
This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging artist to come and live and work at East Quay for two weeks in February 2023. We are looking for a hands-on individual with exemplary creative vision to work alongside our team to realise an artwork in Pod 5 that can inspire our visitors and guests throughout 2023.
