East Quay Gallery (Contains Art)
East Quay is a brand-new cultural venue in Watchet, Somerset.
East Quay is an exciting new cultural venue comprising contemporary galleries, a paper mill, a print studio, maker and artist studios, a geology lab, education space, restaurant, accommodation pods, and public realm. East Quay opened in 2021.
The exhibition programme is run and programmed by Contains Art. Contains Art was established in 2013 and from then until 2019 operated studios and a gallery out of three shipping containers on the quayside in Watchet, delivering an evolving and increasingly ambitious programme of exhibitions, engagement, educational delivery and events. In 2019, following several years of partnership and development work with Onion Collective CIC (two of the Directors of whom founded Contains Art) the containers were moved off site to make way for the construction of the new East Quay cultural and enterprise development.
