Open Call: 2126 – From Here to There
As part of Portsmouth’s 100-year anniversary celebrations, Aspex Portsmouth invites proposals for its COMMUNAL programme in Summer 2026.
COMMUNAL is a programme that offers Aspex Portsmouth as a shared space for experimentation, collaboration, and community-led activity. It provides an opportunity for individuals and groups to test ideas, host events, and connect with others, without facing the barriers of access to and cost of venues and art spaces.
For this season, we are inviting proposals that respond to the theme: 2126: From Here to There. Taking inspiration from our wider exhibition programme, this theme asks: what might Portsmouth look like in 100 years? How can we imagine, shape, or prepare for the future? What actions do we need to take now to get there? We are particularly interested in ideas that explore future thinking, collective action, and creative approaches to imagining what comes next.
We welcome proposals from people of all backgrounds and levels of experience. Whether you are an artist, organiser, facilitator, or part of a community group, COMMUNAL is a space to develop and share ideas. Please note, this is not a venue hire scheme and exhibition proposals will not be accepted.
Submissions close on Sunday 14 June. Find out more about the open call and how to apply here
