Little Forest Open Art Competition

Display your work at Art in the Garden, an Open Studio’ type event in a beautiful natural setting, featuring 20+ invited artists & makers

Art in the Garden runs 23rd May to 7th June 2025

The Little Forest Open Art Competition, now in it’s 7th year, will find interesting artworks to show during Art in the Garden 2025, around the 3 acre wild meadow and along the woodland path.
This is open to any artist or maker working in any medium, living in Hampshire or the adjoining Counties. Entrants must be 18 years of age or over, including students.

There are many different areas to display your work including: old corrugated pig huts; woodpile wall; by the pond; and under mature oak & yew trees.
If you think your work is not suitable for an outdoor situation then think again. We are open to exploratory submissions and have shown a paper giant, delicate wire hangings and even an oil painting along the woodland path.
There is an Open Day to view the different areas around the site: Sunday 12th January, 10.30am - 3pm

We will select a number of artworks from the entries to exhibit around the site. The judges will select an overall winner from these, who will be announced at the preview. They will receive a prize of £150. There will also be a People’s Choice prize of £50, awarded at the end of the event, for visitors to choose their favourite.

The judging panel are:
Laura Joy, Arts Manager, University Hospitals Dorset;
Dr. Liz K Miller, Artist and Researcher, and our winner from 2024;
as well as LFLA’s Jan Griffiths and Adrian Mundy.
