East Quay is interested in commissioning performers, musicians, performance artists and creatives for cultural activations around our art centre in Watchet, Somerset. Throughout 2024 and 2025, we want to programme a series of events, with a particular focus on movement-based performances such as dance and circus, that will ‘animate’ our spaces at East Quay.

These will be short duration, pop-up interventions happening on a single day, either as one-off performances or a number of performances throughout the day. Please note, this is not an opportunity for exhibitions, residencies or gallery work (all of which we commission in other ways). Whether you are a poet or LARPer, folk musician or dancer, if you think you can bring fun, inspiration, joy and creativity to audiences at East Quay, we want to hear from you!

East Quay is a brand-new arts venue which opened in September 2021 in the harbour town of Watchet, Somerset. It is home to contemporary art galleries, 11 artist studios, a paper mill, a geology workshop, a print studio, a restaurant, an education space, and five unique accommodation pods, all overlooking the town’s quayside on Somerset’s coast.

To apply, please email a Letter of Introduction (maximum one page) expressing your interest and what you are proposing. Please include links to images or videos that best illustrate your practice and the specificities of your proposal (website, Instagram etc). In addition, please include your day rate or relevant fee and any additional costs (production or otherwise) that need to be considered for your proposal.

Deadline: Friday 1 March, 2024. (N.B. We will reviews submissions as they are received and are looking to commission as soon as possible).
