Aspex Portsmouth Community Panel

Aspex Portsmouth are looking for local people to join our Community Panel, and have a say on local arts and culture.

Community Panel is a new project which aims to bridge the gap between Aspex Portsmouth as a communal site for cultural and creative activities and the communities that it serves. It aims to elevate voices by promoting collaboration and partnerships to foster stronger connections across the city.

This community-led advisory panel will see local people become active collaborators in choosing and creating art experiences at Aspex. Participants will play a proactive role in the ongoing development of an enriching programme of projects and activities that respond to the wants and needs of the local community.

The Community Panel looks to encourage greater diversity in backgrounds and ideas to influence change, and aims to create greater opportunities for people to engage with visual arts. Participants will have the chance to develop or improve their transferable skills by overcoming some of the key challenges in accessing arts and/or cultural opportunities.

How to Apply

The Community Panel is a voluntary position and we aim for participants to take part in the project over the duration of 2-3 years. There are 12 positions available to join the first cohort of panel members, and we encourage applicants from all backgrounds and sectors (not just limited to artists or arts professionals).

Aspex will also be hosting an open afternoon at Aspex on Wednesday 26th April 2023 4pm – 5pm, where you will have the chance to find out more about the opportunity and ask any questions you may have. Please email ricardo@aspex.org.uk to confirm you’ll be attending.
