Lizzie Lloyd (writer) and Kit Poulson (artist and writer), both Senior Lecturers at UWE Bristol, have been working together to run a project called WITTA (Writing In / Through / To Art) which began as a way of exploring experimental approaches to writing in or as art. Lizzie and Kit began their WITTA work with the following questions: How do we write? How do other artists write? Why does it matter? How can we work together and with other people to support and develop it?

This WITTA film was made from interviews and materials gathered at an informal week-long creative residency/experiment called 'WITTA verse' in which UWE Fine Art students came together with Lizzie and Kit and a selection of other artists, writers and composers to make together and alongside each other. Lizzie and Kit will be continuing to build a body of prompts over the next few months but here is a sneak preview of how they are working together to help you write beyond and beside yourselves.

Kit Poulson often inaccurately describes himself as a painter; he works with a variety of media, alongside painting he has produced installations, made sound works and films and often collaborates (with musicians, dancers, filmmakers). He often works with others, or creates situations where multiple things occur in constellation. He has shown works and performances nationally and internationally and has published two books of experimental fiction (Ice Cream Empire and Mutter) with Book Works. Poulson has been Senior Lecturer in Fine Art and Art & Writing at UWE Bristol since 2012. His research interests include speculative fictions and delusions, early modern meditation chambers and the writings and paintings of Malevich. At heart of them all is the slippery concept of the image and attempts to apprehend it. www.kitpoulson.com
