Zen Memory Garden
“We use our minds not to discover facts but to hide them.” Damasio, cited Talwar 2007.
With this quote in mind we are inviting submissions from Artist’s to fill our Zen Memory Garden, with the aim of finding happiness within. We aim to curate an amalgamation of memento’s of treasured memories that artists and viewers would wish to relive for eternity. Art work is encouraged in any media, including live performance and participatory arts, provided it leaves a lasting visual artefact. We would want Artist’s to utilise all the senses to explore how these memories create feeling. Artists are not obliged to disclose their memory, allowing them to really dig deep! They may wish to reclaim a joyful moment that has been tainted by subsequent bad experiences and simply relive the joy of that specific time, or may wish to capture a secret or profound experience.
Performances will be scheduled events throughout the week and art work will be swapped in and out throughout the exhibition to represent how our memories change over time as we revisit them.
