To accompany our 'British Ugandan Asian @ 50' exhibition, we are thrilled to welcome Bristol-based artist Harshinder Sirah.

Learn to embroider and paint on amazing Ugandan fabric made from pure bark, brought back from Kampala. The embroidery you will use has stitches which stand out and are found in both Ugandan and Indian fabrics for decoration and style. Turn your decorated fabric into a cushion cover or a small decorative item to wear or place on an artist’s canvas.

Harshinder will also talk through her work as an artist and designer.

11am to 2.30pm. £5. Free to Ugandan Asians.

Harshinder arrived in Honiton in 1972, seeking refuge after fleeing the Idi Amin regime in Uganda, she is looking forward to coming back – “I am so excited to be given the opportunity to return to Honiton, where I was a child refugee in the camp at Heathfield… To be able to share my love, passion and joy as an artist and designer.”
