Hidden Gallery, renowned for their expertise in artworks by household names, is exhibiting an extraordinary new collection of original prints by Louise Bourgeois, Tracey Emin, Bridget Riley and Agnes Martin. Whether directly representing the female experience or revolutionising male-dominated movements, Bourgeois, Emin, Riley and Martin have challenged and reinvigorated Modern and Contemporary art. Hidden’s latest exhibition focuses on their mastery of printmaking, looking at how a careful consideration of different printmaking methods helped each artist to develop their own signature aesthetic.

Bourgeois and Emin’s confessional artworks expose the intricacies of their personal lives. Both artists have been particularly drawn to intaglio printmaking methods due to the possible quality of line which can appear immediate and raw. Highlights of Hidden’s exhibition include two coveted etchings by Bourgeois, editions of which are also held in the Tate’s collection, and one of Emin’s iconic full-length portraits.

Riley and Martin each maintained a distance between their art and private lives. They are celebrated for pioneering abstract art, a notoriously male-dominated field, and were focused on aesthetic concerns more than their identity as artists and women. Planographic printmaking methods such as lithography and screenprinting suited their aims, enabling them to work on flat surfaces to explore patterns. For a limited time only, Hidden will be exhibiting a vibrant, hand-signed screenprint by Riley alongside four stunning lithographs by Martin, originating from a deluxe exhibition catalogue from 1991.

Through their unwavering commitment to printmaking, Bourgeois, Emin, Riley and Martin have each uniquely reinvented the medium through tireless innovation. Limited-edition and hand-signed prints by these four leading artists will be available for purchase, enabling visitors to take home their very own museum-quality artwork.
