Red Rebels from Southampton invite you to join us for an elegiac performance that will interact with the ancient walls of God’s House Tower.
The Red Rebel Brigade first made its appearance at the London 2019 Rebellion, a mass protest and direct action in response to the environmental crisis – and the first time that Extinction Rebellion entered public awareness.
The Red Rebel Brigade first made its appearance at the London 2019 Rebellion, a mass protest and direct action in response to the environmental crisis – and the first time that Extinction Rebellion entered public awareness. Combining public performance, artistic expression and visual protest, figures draped in red with white faces form a slow-moving, living tableau that’s intended to act as a warning and to prick our collective consciousness about the harm we are doing to ourselves and the planet. Moving on from the first iteration of the Red Rebel Brigade as imagined by Bristolian artist Doug Francisco, the concept has grown into a worldwide symbol adopted by local activist groups.
