Throwing Ceramics
Learn about the fundamentals of throwing on the potter’s wheel and how to decorate your ceramic pieces with coloured decorative slips and underglaze.
Experience the fundamentals of ceramics in a professional studio environment at Bath Spa University’s Locksbrook Campus during this Throwing Ceramics workshop. This hands-on taster workshop offers a relaxed and supportive introduction to working with clay on the potter’s wheel. Led by experienced Ceramic Demonstrator Louise Blois, you’ll learn essential wheel-throwing techniques and create your own pottery pieces to take home.
During the session, you'll learn how to centre clay on the potter’s wheel, how to create bowls, plates, and vessels and how to decorate your work using a selection of decorative slips.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have produced a selection of ceramic pieces which will be glazed and kiln-fired for you, ready for collection approximately three to four weeks later.
Throwing Ceramics is ideal for complete beginners with no prior ceramics experience and is a fun, creative, and welcoming introduction to the potter’s wheel.
