‘The Story So Far’ A solo exhibition by Brendan Lancaster
Opening Preview 6 – 9pm Thursday 24th February #allwelcome
This selection of work, made over the last 3 years or so, captures small incidents of quiet attention, isolated from the stream of humdrum daily experience. These scenes, lifted from a script that nobody has written, are rendered in Lancaster's direct, spontaneous style conveying his love of paint as a physical medium, and his fascination with light, shade, and colour.
Wandering the streets for lockdown exercise, casting an eye over the familiar kitchen table, hallway, habits and routine actions of family life, provide subjects that Lancaster snaps on his phone, stored up to be painted later in the studio. Shot after shot, watching the story unfold... we look and it's nothing. We look again and there it is... we look again and it's gone.
