The Intelligence Below: New ways of listening to the natural world
Join sound artist Jason Singh for an exploration of the hidden sounds, rhythms and intelligence of the natural world.
In this artist talk, The Intelligence Below, discover how new technologies are opening up unique ways of listening. From sensitive microphones and field recording to biosonification and spatial audio, the talk explores how sounds and processes beyond the limits of ordinary human perception can be translated and experienced.
Drawing on a wide range of projects created for museums, galleries, landscapes, gardens, festivals and broadcast, Jason will share work developed with organisations including RAMM, the National Trust, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the Bodleian Libraries, the BBC, the RHS, WOMAD and Milton Keynes International Festival.
Through albums, installations, immersive sound and live experiences, these projects ask a simple but increasingly important question: what happens when we take the time to listen?
The Intelligence Below is an invitation to hear the natural world differently, and to consider how deeper listening might change our relationship with the living world around us and within us.
