The Great Turning: Tidal Signals, Tidal Cycles
An exhibition curated by Kingsbridge Community College graduates, displaying works by the local community and Devon & Cornwall based artists.
The exhibition will open with a sound performance Tidal Frequences made in response to the exhibition by artist and yoga practitioner Carly Seller, taking place at 6:45pm on Friday 6th October at Harbour House. The exhibition continues until the 11th November.
Harbour House in Kingsbridge is delighted to announce their next exhibition ‘The Great Turning: Tidal Signals, Tidal Cycles’, a project developed and delivered by recent graduates from Kingsbridge Community College. The group of young curators have worked with Harbour House and Devon and Cornwall based artists to create a series of participatory creative workshops exploring the climate crisis and local community. These were held in the summer of 2023 in and around Kingsbridge, and many of the participant outcomes will be shown alongside new collaborative works by artist Katharine Platts and the young curators: Phoebe Carpenter, Annaliese Paskins, Ellie Trowelle, and Uinseann Wrigley.
The project is the second exhibition of a new programme at Harbour House, which places community engagement at its heart. The new vision for the Harbour House is shaped by our ongoing work with the Young Curators of Kingsbridge Community College, who highlighted the need for art to bring together different groups and generations within the community as well as a programme strand exploring our natural surroundings, climate change, and our non-human neighbours.
