Exhibitions
the foot sinks into it
This event involves an exhibition from artists and a 6 mile walk where the artists (and walkers involved) can share their thoughts on art and nature.
To begin this event, the three artists Erika Cann, Millie Laing-Tate and Laura Robertson will begin at The Plough to talk about their trio exhibition 'the foot sinks into it' and some of the ideas behind this. This will be at 11am at The Plough Arts Centre.
Then, we set off at 12noon from The Plough on foot. The walk is approximately 6 miles (or 9.5km), so please ensure to bring comfortable footwear and plenty of food and water. Throughout this event you will go on a guide walk along the Tarka Trail, which twists and turns its way right next to the Torridge River which is on the way to Bideford. During the walk, these three artists will share their thoughts and observations of the surrounding environments in relation to their practises. This is the first time these artists have been on this particular trail therefore invites others to join them in their discoveries and finding inspiration as the trail unfolds. All fellow walkers are encouraged to share their own views and interests along the way as everyone is seen as equal explorers.
This walk includes The Burton in Bideford, where there will be a chance given to have a look at 'Revealing the Human Form: Sculpture From Leading British Artists'. Warren Collum- The Burton's Exhibitions and Collections Manager- will give a brief talk about their show, and will be followed by a chance to share thoughts about the two exhibitions. We will arrive here at 3pm.
At 4pm the event ends and the No.75 bus leaves from The Burton, arriving at The Plough at 4:27pm.
