Talk and Book Signing: Hettie Judah 'On Art and Motherhood'

Join us for an exclusive event and book signing with writer and exhibition curator, Hettie Judah.

Hettie will share insights from her research for her book, 'Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood' which explores the joys, messes, myths and mishaps of parenting through visual culture.

Hettie will discuss some of the key themes from her book and touring exhibition, drawing on artworks from ancient goddess artefacts to contemporary interpretations of pregnancy and highlighting works by Turner Prize nominee Barbara Walker, Claudette Johnson, and Njideka Akunyili Crosby - currently on display at The Box as part of 'The Time is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure'. Books will be available to buy from The Box's shop.

'Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood' is curated for Hayward Gallery Touring. Following its debut at the Arnolfini Gallery in Bristol, it has travelled to mac Birmingham, where it is on view until 29 September 2024, before continuing its tour to the Millennium Gallery in Sheffield, and DCA in Dundee. It is accompanied by an illustrated book published by Thames and Hudson.
