Superplants & Microorganisms: Seagrass Stories
Unearthing the Secrets of the Deep: From Micro-fossils to Mega-meadows.
As part of our Strata Stories exhibition celebrating the 2026 Geopark Festival, join us at Artizan Collective Gallery for an evening dedicated to the vibrant marine ecosystems of the English Riviera.
We are diving deep into the hidden underwater worlds of Torbay, bridging the gap between ancient history and modern conservation. We are thrilled to host two guest speakers for a pair of short, illuminating presentations:
- The Present | Megan Ross (Ocean Conservation Trust): Discover the wonders of seagrass. Learn why this "superpowered plant" is vital to our local waters and get an inside look at the thriving underwater meadows right here in the Bay.
- The Past | Dr. Jodie Fisher (University of Plymouth): Explore the microscopic world of Foraminifera. These fascinating microorganisms act as tiny time capsules, revealing the secrets of our coastal history and environmental evolution.
Get Involved This isn't just a lecture; it’s an exploration. The evening features interactive elements and a dedicated Q&A session, giving you the opportunity to get hands-on with the science and stories that shape our coast.
