Spoon Carving Workshop with Alex Finberg
Discover the craft of spoon carving using traditional hand tools and time-honored techniques.
In this workshop, you'll start with a spoon blank and carve your way to creating a beautifully finished cooking spoon. There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of crafting something by hand and using it in your everyday life!
This course is perfect for complete beginners or those with some carving experience looking to refine their skills. Whether it’s your first spoon or a chance to refresh your technique, you’ll leave with a new appreciation for this wholesome craft.
All tools and materials are provided – just bring your enthusiasm!
This is a special workshop as part of Alex Finberg's Woodcraft for Wellbeing exhibition taking place in MAKE Southwest's Riverside Gallery from 12 July – 9 August 2025.
About Alex:
Alex is a British green wood worker based in South Devon, using age old carving techniques to carve wood into beautiful, functional woodenware from wind fallen and sustainably cut local trees.
He is an advocate for the new wood culture movement and the rediscovering of our relationship to the origins of everyday things, the trees they grew from and the people who made them.
